How prenatal massage can make the world difference?

Massage involves manipulation of the soft tissue, stroking and stretching of muscles, tendons and ligaments which increase the blood circulation in the muscles. The result is more oxygen and nutrient availability to the tissue. In addition, enhanced blood flow will remove metabolic waste products that have built up in the muscles. Some other major physiological effects of soft tissue manipulation include improving muscle pliability a joint flexibility, decrease muscle tension, and calming nervous irritability.

Positioning during prenatal massage?

Prenatal massage can be done in different ways. It all depends on the client how they feel most comfortable. The most common and safest way is to be lying on the sides and be prepped with pillows for your comfort.

Contraindications!

In most cases, prenatal massage can be received safely. There are also times when you should be precautious:

Communication!

Make sure that you communicate with your therapist while receiving massage! That is very important! Be sure to let the therapist know if you are uncomfortable, thirsty, need a bathroom break, or have other concerns.
